RETHINKING PROSPERITY THROUGH GOD’S LENS

There is a quiet tension many believers carry.

On one hand, we believe God is good.
On the other, we struggle to reconcile that goodness with limitation, lack, and unanswered desires.

So when we hear the statement, “God wants you to prosper,” it almost feels… controversial.

But Scripture already settles this:

“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”

— 3 John 1:2

The question is not if God wants you to prosper.
The real question is—what does prosperity truly mean?

For many, prosperity has been reduced to money, material possessions, and visible success.

Prosperity Is Not What You Think

But Scripture paints a deeper picture:

“The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.” — Proverbs 10:22

This kind of prosperity is different. It is not accompanied by anxiety, emptiness, or compromise.

Biblical prosperity is holistic. It is:

      • A thriving soul

      • A sound mind

      • A life aligned with purpose

“What shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” — Mark 8:36

Material gain without spiritual health is not prosperity—it is loss in disguise.

    God’s Desire vs Man’s Interpretation

God’s intention to prosper you is not in question—your alignment with His system is.

“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth… for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” — Joshua 1:8

    Prosperity follows a pattern:

        • Meditation on God’s Word

        • Obedience to His instructions

        • Then visible results

“Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

      — Matthew 6:33

The Foundation: Your Soul Must Prosper First

      There is a divine order:

      Soul → Life → Results

      “…even as thy soul prospereth.” — 3 John 1:2

Your outward life will always mirror your inward state.

“As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” — Proverbs 23:7

“Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…” — Romans 12:2

When your soul is healthy, your life begins to reflect it.

      Breaking the Poverty Mindset

A poverty mindset will limit you long before circumstances do.

      But God’s Word declares:

“…though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.”

      — 2 Corinthians 8:9

“My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:19

You cannot live in abundance while thinking in scarcity.

      Prosperity Has a Purpose

Prosperity is not an end—it is a tool.

“It is he that giveth thee power to get wealth…” — Deuteronomy 8:18

      You are blessed to:

          • Advance God’s kingdom

          • Impact lives

          • Be a channel, not just a container

“Give, and it shall be given unto you…” — Luke 6:38

        A Call to Alignment

This message is an invitation—to align.

“The Lord shall command the blessing upon thee… in all that thou settest thine hand unto…” — Deuteronomy 28:8

God’s desire is clear: He wants you to flourish.

        Final Reflection

What if prosperity is not something you chase…
…but something you become aligned with?

“Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” — Psalm 37:4

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” — Psalm 23:1

When you begin to see prosperity through God’s lens, everything changes.

        You stop striving.
        You start becoming.

And in that becoming— you begin to truly prosper.
